Today’s gospel speaks about the doubting Thomas and the faith granted to Him by the Risen Lord. We too can have contact with Jesus and put our hand, so to speak, upon the signs of his Passion, the signs of his love. It is in the sacraments that he draws particularly near to us and gives himself to us. So, we have to learn to ”see” and to “meet” Jesus in the Eucharist where he is present and close to us. In the sacrament of penance, the Lord reveals his mercy and always grants us his forgiveness and peace.
Give thank to the Lord
For He is good
His love has no end
Today the church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday when we pay attention to one of its mysteries, The Divine Mercy of God, which God revealed in the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ. The particular devotion to the divine mercy is based on the private revelations of Saint Faustina. Particular devotional prayers are said which are similar to the Jesus prayer of the early church and the eastern monks and hermits.
