First Reconciliation and First Communion
St. Cecilia’s Parish accompanies children, young people and their families as they prepare to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Sacramental preparation is rooted in the life of the parish and includes catechesis, prayer, participation in the liturgy, parent involvement, retreats and the celebration of the Sacraments.
Understanding the Sacraments
Preparation helps children and young people grow in faith and enter more deeply into the sacramental life of the Church.
First Reconciliation
In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we encounter the mercy of Jesus Christ and receive God’s forgiveness. Preparation helps children grow in their understanding of conscience, sin, forgiveness, responsibility and God’s call to conversion.
First Holy Communion
The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. Preparation helps children grow in their understanding of the Mass, the Eucharist and their participation in the worship and life of the Church, so that they may receive Holy Communion with faith and reverence.
Confirmation
Confirmation is one of the Sacraments of Christian Initiation. In Confirmation, the grace of Baptism is strengthened and the baptized receive a special strengthening by the Holy Spirit for their life of discipleship and witness to Christ.
Who Is Sacramental Preparation For?
First Reconciliation & First Communion: for the 2026–2027 preparation year at St. Cecilia’s Parish, preparation is open to children who are baptized Catholic and are in Grade 2 or above.
Confirmation: preparation is open to students who are baptized Catholic, have received First Reconciliation and First Communion, and are in Grade 6 or above.
