Come sit in this chair – Discover God’s Peace

Today’s gospel reminds us that the weight of sin and the worries of this life are a trap. That undercurrent of uneasiness, that vague feeling of unworthiness or that persistent gnawing of regret keeps us from knowing God’s peace. In the words of absolution spoken at the end of the sacrament of Reconciliation, the priest says “may God give you pardon and peace”. Discover God’s peace, a peace that comes from leaving your sin behind, being made free, and being reconciled to the Lord. In addition to the regular parish schedule, the sacrament of reconciliation will be available at parishes throughout the Diocese of Calgary all the Wednesdays of Advent and Lent from 7:30 – 8:30 pm. Come, and sit in this chair – Discover God’s peace.

In Advent we prepare not only for the coming of Jesus at Christmas and at the end of time but especially for the coming of our Saviour each day. Being ready to meet the Lord at all times brings a sense of peace. Prepare for the peace of the sacrament of Reconciliation by examining your conscience. One easy formulas: consider your relationship with God, with others, and with yourself.
