Come,
sit in this chair
—Be transformed.
In today’s Epistle, St. Paul contrasts those whose “minds are set on earthly things” to followers of Jesus who know that their “citizenship is in heaven”. The three Lenten disciplines of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving strip away our delusion of independence and self-sufficiency and help us to see our utter dependence upon God for everything we have and everything we are. When noise, food, and money cease to control us, we are conformed more closely to the glory of Jesus Christ. If attachment to the things of this world has gotten in the way of your citizenship in heaven, come, sit in this chair—Be transformed.
In addition to the regular parish schedule, the sacrament of Reconciliation will be available at parishes throughout the Diocese of Calgary on all the Wednesdays of Lent from 7:30 – 8:30pm. Come, sit in this chair—Be transformed.
Note:
At St. Cecilia’s we have adjusted the confession times from 6:30 to 7:30 pm to facilitate the Wednesday choir practices for Easter.
Action: Identify your attachments and idols. Call them by name and turn to God for help in overcoming them
