Sacrament of Confirmation

Confirmation at the 11:00 am Mass on Sunday, May 3

Bishop McGrattan will visit St. Cecilia’s Parish on Sunday, May 3 to celebrate the 11:00 am Mass and confer the Sacrament of Confirmation on twenty-four youth and one adult.

Parishioners are invited to attend and support the candidates with prayer and presence as they are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened in their faith.

Fr. Derek on Retreat

Weekday Masses Cancelled

Fr. Derek will be away from Monday to Friday for the annual priest retreat. The 9:00 am Mass from Tuesday, May 5 through Friday, May 8 is cancelled.

While on retreat, Fr. Derek will offer Mass for the intentions scheduled for those days.

In Memoriam

Fr. Henry Rosenbaum, SAC

In the charity of your prayers, please pray for the repose of Fr. Henry Rosenbaum, SAC, former pastor of St. Cecilia’s Parish, who died on Sunday, April 26 at the age of 91.

Funeral Vigil: Wednesday, May 6. Viewing from 6:00 to 6:45 pm, followed by the Vigil at 7:00 pm at St. Cecilia’s Parish.

Funeral Mass: Thursday, May 7. Viewing at 10:30 am, Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.

Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery following the Mass.

Funeral Reception: 12:00 pm in St. Cecilia’s Parish Hall.

Those requiring support may call the parish office at 403-252-2790 and select extension 3 for the St. Vincent de Paul helpline.

Current hamper needs: canned fruit, canned vegetables, soup, and reusable grocery bags that are no longer needed.

World Youth Day 2027

Youth, young adults, and graduating students are invited to consider World Youth Day 2027 in South Korea. The Diocese of Calgary is gathering expressions of interest, with no commitment required, by May 15. Please see the parish website for the interest form.

Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary is a worldwide Catholic association devoted to serving Christ under the guidance of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Members serve through evangelization, visiting the sick and homebound, inviting people back to the Church and Sacraments, and promoting the Pilgrim Virgin Statue and Sacred Heart Enthronement. Meetings are Fridays from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm in the Boardroom.

Multiply the Hope

In the spirit of the Jubilee Year, the Diocese of Calgary has launched the Multiply the Hope matching financial campaign for parishes, running through the end of 2027.

To qualify for matching funds, St. Cecilia Parish must first meet both its operating budget and its TIA goal. Our parish goal is $158,425. In 2025, the parish allocated $52,290 to Multiply the Hope from operational surplus.

Seeds of the Word – Lectio Divina Compendium

The Seeds of the Word Community’s 2026 Lectio Divina Compendium is now available to support daily prayer and meditation on Scripture.

Copies, along with baked and homemade goods, will be sold after Masses on May 9 and 10. Proceeds support the community’s mission of evangelization and making the Word of God more accessible to all.

Presenter Peter Thompson serves as a Catholic lay evangelist and teacher in the Diocese of Calgary and continues to share his love of Christ and the Church.

46th Annual Hike for Life

The Hike for Life is Calgary Prolife’s main fundraiser supporting Respect Life education in local Catholic schools and communities.

All are welcome on Saturday, May 9 at Prince’s Island Park, Enmax Stage, Calgary. The morning includes a community walk, live music by Eric Reinhart & Friends, a BBQ lunch, refreshments, and prizes.

St. Matthew School – WestJet Gift of Flight Fundraiser
