Parish Highlights
Eucharistic Adoration till Midnight on August 14
In preparation for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Eucharistic Adoration will be held on Friday, August 14 from 9:30 am to midnight.
Mass for the Solemnity of the Assumption will be celebrated on Saturday, August 15 at 9:00 am.
Knights of Columbus
Men who would like to make a difference are invited to learn more about the Knights of Columbus.

Multiply the Hope
As part of the Jubilee Year, the Diocese’s Multiply the Hope campaign provides matching funds to support parish renewal projects through 2027. To qualify, parishes must first meet their operating budget and TIA goals.
St. Cecilia’s parish goal is $158,425. In 2025, the parish contributed $52,290 from operational surplus.
Volunteer Screening Update
Thank you to all volunteers who have completed their screening paperwork. The next step is the mandatory training modules.
Training will be offered as a two hour session on September 10 and October 17 at 10:00 am in the upstairs auditorium. Please plan to attend one of these sessions.
Sacrament Registration 2026 to 2027
Registration forms are available from the parish office or the pamphlet rack in the narthex. All registration forms and supporting documents must be submitted by Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
First Reconciliation and First Communion are open to baptized Catholic children in Grade 2 or higher. Confirmation is open to baptized Catholic students in Grade 6 or higher who have already received First Reconciliation and First Communion.
A $50 course materials fee is required. Completed forms may be submitted to the parish office or emailed to sacraments@stceciliacalgary.com.
Families who do not reside within St. Cecilia Parish boundaries of Acadia, Fairview, Willow Park and Maple Ridge, or who are not registered parishioners of St. Cecilia Parish, must provide a letter from their parish priest granting permission for their child to participate in sacramental preparation and receive the sacraments at St. Cecilia Parish.
Catholic Men’s Discernment Group
Young unmarried men who are discerning their vocation are invited to take part. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month from September to April and include reflections on discerning God’s will, silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, and the Rosary.

Monthly Mass and Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations
Beginning Thursday, September 3, St. Cecilia Parish will host a monthly Mass for vocations at 7:00 pm, followed by one hour of Eucharistic Adoration.
The Mass and Adoration will take place on the first Thursday of each month from September through December. Parishioners are invited to come and pray for vocations.
40 Hours Devotion for Vocations at St. Cecilia
St. Cecilia Parish will host the 40 Hours Devotion for Vocations from Friday, November 20 at 9:30 am to Sunday, November 22 at 8:00 am.
Parishioners are invited to take part in this extended time of prayer for vocations.
Requiescant in Pace
The parish extends its deepest condolences to the families of Stella Boyko, who passed away on July 1, 2026, Frederic Bremner, who passed away on July 9, 2026, and Faye Masse, who passed away on July 30, 2026.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
Parish Office Summer Hours
The parish office is open Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 am to 12 noon. Regular office hours resume in September.

Diocesan Highlights
2026 Marian Week in the Rockies
Pilgrims may come for a day, a weekend, or the entire week. Marian Week begins with the Solemnity of the Assumption Mass with Bishop McGrattan at St. Mary’s Parish in Banff and concludes with the Queenship of Mary Mass at the Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Rockies in Canmore.
Daily Mass, Marian talks, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, a sacred music concert, and other pilgrimage opportunities are scheduled through the week. View the full Marian Week schedule.
Save the Dates: The Word Conference
Archbishop Paul-André Durocher and parish leaders from across the Diocese will explore lifelong faith formation, from childhood through adulthood, pastoral care, and the renewed RCIA. Registration is expected to open in late August.
Pray with the Pope: Evangelization in the City
The Holy Father invites us to pray that in large cities, often marked by anonymity and loneliness, Christians may discover creative ways to proclaim the Gospel and build welcoming communities where no one feels invisible.
SFXC Youth Ministry Workshop
Current and prospective youth-ministry leaders are invited to a workshop with two guest speakers, Q&A, and small-group discussion. The event is open to anyone currently involved in youth ministry, interested in starting a parish youth group, or returning to youth ministry.
Tribunal Training Workshop
A free morning of formation for lay people, parish staff, religious, and clergy who want to accompany parishioners through the marriage nullity process. Registration is required.

Cemetery Masses with Bishop McGrattan
Masses for the souls of the deceased will be celebrated at Mountain View Cemetery Chapel on August 25, Edenbrook Cemetery Chapel on August 26, Queen’s Park on September 1, and St. Mary’s Cemetery on September 2. All are welcome.
FIAT Retreat for Single Women
Single women ages 16 to 39 who are discerning or curious about consecrated life are invited to a day of prayer, reflection, fellowship, Mass, Adoration, Reconciliation, and conversation with religious sisters. Cost is $20.
